NEWS FLASH!
“WORD POWER” AWARDS
CEREMONY
Grant High School, Van Nuys, California
Tuesday, January 8, 2008
“Word Power” was introduced in October 2007 to the
students of Grant High School by its creator Kenneth Kahn.
This program will offer an exciting, positive and
motivational opportunity for the students to learn more
about writing, communicating and becoming a successful
citizen in their years ahead, and convince them they do not
need to drop out of school and end up on the streets or in
jail. The students have positive - and fun - alternatives,
as the Word Power program shows.
Grant High School students have two weeks to write an
essay about their personal struggles in life, overcoming
odds at home and however they wish to express themselves in
a few pages. Students may also choose to write a review
about The Carny Kid – the true story book written by
Mr. Kahn. November 16 is the deadline for the
students to turn in their essays to their English teachers.
Winners of the Word Power - Grant High School contest
will be announced on Tuesday, January 8, 2008 during a
special student assembly with local politicians,
dignitaries, Grant High alumni and celebrities attending.
Cash prizes and special certificates will be presented. |

where you come from or what type of background you had, it

It was great to find out that someone else (you) had grown up in
